Table 1:
Body mass index (BMI) - categorical
|
Notes |
These reports examine the relationship between BMI measured as a categorical variable and incident Alzheimer Disease and Total Dementia. Some studies evaluated the association between mid-life BMI and AD, others between late-life BMI and AD, and others both associations. Some reports adjusted for multiple sets of covariates. In these instances, the results obtained from adjusting for separate sets of covariates are provided in separate rows.

Table 2:
Body mass index (BMI) - continuous, per 1-kg/m2 increment in BMI
|
Notes |
These studies examine the association between BMI measured as a continuous variable and incident AD and TD. All reported results reflect the effect estimates for a 1kg/m2 increment in BMI. The table contains studies which measured BMI in mid-life as well as those that measured BMI in late-life.
