Cohort: Chongqing City, China cohort

Introduction to the Cohort
Participants were enrolled into this prospective cohort from Gaoxing, Yubei and Yuzhong districts of Chongqing City in China. The majority of the population is comprised of long-term residents occupied as workers, managers, intellectuals, businessmen, etc. During baseline examinations (January 2001 to January 2003), a total of 3286 persons aged 60 and over were enrolled and examined. The initial participation rate was 99.2%.
The average age at enrolment was 66.

Ethnicity Breakdown
Participants were from China.
